Only Two junior years there - youngest (11) boy in school at the time. Left and moved to King Edward VII School in JHB.. We grew up in Botswana - best mates - late Kenny de Villiers ( also Francistown), 'Bugs' Huggins and Taffy Houlding both Bulawayo.
Incident 1. (in 1958/9) - Hoyle went missing at a stop near Makgadigadi Pans on a Young Explorers Club trip. My Dad, Cyril was using the same road from F.town to Nata when he met the group on the road. Camping with them that night, he made a big fire which Hoyle eventually navigated towards - tired and thirsty but otherwise all well!
2. Young Houlding and Challis decided a midnight swim was in order and bunked out. Next day in Assembly,Tank Carey announced that all who were swimming should own-up and report to his Office - turned out that most seniors were doing the same - 'Jefoof' Wilson (Head Boy), among them - all were caned - us two whipper-snappers reprimanded and told to get out of his Office!
3. Circa 1985 - flew to Princeton NJ for an interview with Squibb Animal Health to Head-up sales for Oz and S. America. Told I would be meeting the Senior Vice Pres. - turned out to be 'Thompi' Thompson ( brother of 'Impi') - small world indeed. How did a Falcon boy get to sit on the 'right hand of God the Father' - the President of Squibb Pharmaceuticals!!
