Greetings to all Falconians,
I am offering the services of our travel company, Off 2 Africa (www.off2africa.travel), to all individuals or groups who are considering coming out for either of the two Falcon 70th Anniversary celebrations in 2024.

Just a brief bit of background – established in 2001, Off 2 Africa is a small dynamic team and we pride ourselves on providing a personalised service. We all share a passion for crafting holidays, across the countries in Southern Africa for each of our clients. Conservation is close to our hearts and tourism is the best way for us to each play our part. With offices in Harare and Victoria Falls, we are here to ensure your dream trip goes smoothly! We currently arrange holidays for a number of Falconians, and Off 2 Africa will donate up to 5% of your holiday booked with us to the Falcon Foundation.

Heath Streak, one of Falcon’s finest

Few could have missed the tragic news of the death of Heath Streak on 3rd September 2023 at the age of 49. Looking around the media landscape, there are so many reports we could quote, but this one from the Telegraph is probably one of the best.

Here he is in the Falconian team that beat Petreans at Radley College on the occasion of their 50th anniversary celebrations. Heath’s friend, Henry Olonga, helped us repeat the performance at the same location 10 years later!

Falconian aims for the Paris Olympics

Philip Longden in action

Phil Coates Palgrave, (Tredgold 1986) is the stepson of Pip Longden (Oates 1962), an amputee, a paralympian archer and he needs our support to achieve his dream of participating in the Paris Paralympics 2024. I was shocked to learn how much a prosthetic leg costs him – and they don’t last forever – but in addition South African paralympians are mostly self-funded.

Title picture for College 2022 album
Some of you may not remember Falcon too well, being madala (bit like me) – well, here’s your opportunity to gasp and say, “That was never there in my day” and “Eish, Falcon students have such an easy life these days etc etc. Peter also managed to get snaps of all the sports boards, updated to 2019 (not much sport in 2020 and 2021 – remember that pandemic!).

Sponsor Gail for Falcon

Gail Harrison – sister of long-standing Falcon staff member, Richard Harrison – and 13 friends are heading to Victoria Falls on 3rd July to run the marathon or half-marathon and are looking for sponsors!

All funds raised will go to the Falcon College Overseas Trust. In her own words, Gail says…

We are self funding a trip to run the Victoria Falls Marathon/ Half marathon and would like to raise some money to support less privileged but gifted children to attend one of Zimbabwe’s best schools. Having known some who have already benefited from this scheme, we feel it would be good to facilitate others to follow in their footsteps.

If you would like to help, click here to visit Gail’s Fundraiser Page.

Of course, this post would not be complete without some pictures of the fantastic location for this event, so here’s the organisers’ trailer video from 2019
